Mission Impossible: Preikestolen at Sunrise

Day 3: Stavanger

I told you I’d have two posts today as I attempt to catch you all up! Last night, I got about 2 hours and 45 minutes of sleep! I think this trip is a test to see how little sleep I can get in two weeks! This time though, it was my own fault! See, I booked a sunrise hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) and in order to reach it by sunrise, you obviously have to leave before then. I was picked up just after midnight, we hiked through the [not all the way] dark and rain, and reached the top at about 4am, with a 1/2 hour to spare before the sun came up! Warning: even though it was rainy, cloudy and we didn’t get to see the sun, my pictures don’t capture the absolutely breathtaking views from standing on and above Preikestolen, high above the Lysefjord! And yes, Magnus rode like the king he is in my backpack, sheltered from the weather and hiking!

Since we started in the middle of the night, it meant we were back in Stavanger by 9am, with a full day left! After a much needed shower to warm up, and cup of coffee with set out to see some other sights. Check them out below!

Sverd i fjell (swords in rock)

Ullandhaug Tower (viewpoint)

I’m going to fully admit this wasn’t my best moment both for how far I walked and that I have no idea what area these pictures are of. At the time, I though they were of Stavanger, but upon leaving and looking up directions back to the city, I realized I was taking pictures in the wrong direction [facepalm]. I blame lack of sleep. They’re still fun though! And I found some neat Norwegian farms and sheep!

I hope you enjoyed day 3 as much as I did! Preikestolen was an unforgettable experience! My legs are dead, and that means it was a great day! I’m even already back in my hotel room as I plan on laying low tonight and going to bed early! Stay tuned for tomorrow! Not sure what’s in store quite yet, but it will be fun!
